Jim's Dog and Poem

I had to say goodbye to my dog, my best friend of 17 years. My heart aches with such pain, it's as though I lost a family member. Actually, I did. She was an inside dog, she was my shadow. I couldn't even go to the bathroom without her following me. My heart aches with a loneliness I will feel forever. She was a very loyal, smart, and happy dog. A dear friend wrote a poem for me that I am posting.
Thank you friend for your compassion.

Amanda
To my one true friend who was always there,
I'll remember the good times that we used to share.
Always in my heart you will hold a place,
I promise to remember your loving face.
Please watch over us from up above,
your eyes always full of unconditional love.
A part of my life, I held you so dear,
you passed from my life- the one thing I feared.
My best friend in life you always will be,
look down from above and keep watch over me.
I miss you so much, I promise it's true,
the rest of my life, I'll remember you.
A great grassy field or a warm fireplace,
wherever you're at, I'll miss your sweet face.
The sound of your bark, I'll hear no more,
each time I think of you I'll miss you more.
For Amanda, R.I.P.

I can't begin to imagine how you feel. Our pup (our first ever dog) is only eight and a half months old and being without her doesn't bear thinking about.

17 is quite an age - she must have been very well cared for. Of course it's awful for you, but I'm sure she had a wonderful life with you.
